If you are in need of a job, you might not consider job searching a waste of time. It is vital that you start obtaining a steady paycheck; therefore, any work and effort put into a job search is time well-spent. With that said, thousands of job seekers make simple, but time consuming mistakes. Yes, each simple mistake or oversight might only lead to a minute or two of wasted time, but that time can easily add up. To ensure your job search goes off without a hitch and to ensure you don’t waste a moment of time, here are some helpful tips:

Search Multiple Career Sites at Once

On that same note, you waste time if you are searching multiple job search sites separately. There are a number of computer applications, as well as smart phone apps, that enable you to search all the best career sites at once; with one search. It can take hours to search site #1, then search site #2, then site #3, and so forth.

Write Down all Jobs You Apply for and When

You might be surprised how many job seekers apply for the same job two or three times. Most of these duplicate applications or resumes are by mistake. Either way, they waste time. It is also important to note that hiring managers dislike duplicate resumes and job applications as well; it does not create a good impression.

By writing down all the jobs you applied for, you are aware. Keep in mind the date. If a company post a job for an office manager on Monday, but a new listing appears on Friday (same exact listing), they may be doing this to bump the job listing so it appears higher in the search results. If it is still the same position, don’t apply again.

However, lets say your notes say you applied for that office manager job two months ago and the listing is reappearing. Apply again. Likely, the company hired an office manager and their new-hire didn’t pan out.

Keep Your Resume Easily Accessible

If you are in the mist of a job search, your resume should always be within reach of your fingertips. When applying for jobs online, easily access your resume from your computer. Store it in your “My Documents” with a good name “Adnan Resume.” You don’t need to waste five minutes or more searching your computer for your resume because you know it is saved…somewhere.

The same holds true for printed resumes. Job seekers should always be prepared to apply for jobs. Maybe you are at the dentist and see a “now hiring secretary” sign. If you have a printed copy of your resume in your car, you can apply. There is no need to waste time and money to return home, print your resume, and return back to the office to apply.

When people have a goal in mind or want to find something, there’s one simple process that needs to be carried out – that of actively going after or searching for that prize. The search for a great job is no different, and while mass communication makes job hunting easier, there’s still a lengthy process involved when you’re trying to find the job you want. Here are a few tips and pointers that will help you on your journey to employment.

Are you wondering why you still haven’t landed a job? More than likely you have made the same mistake as most other people, which is that you are searching through only one source. Don’t look at only the local newspaper; broaden your search to other sources. Also, by keeping track of where you have submitted your application from the beginning, you can circumvent the difficulty of managing multiple sources and avoid duplicate submissions.

As always, an excellent source for current job listings is the newspaper. Newspapers can also be found on the Internet as well as many other job listing sites. When searching online, try to scan several sites to expand your chances. Don’t underestimate the ability of networking. Friends may know of a place that is seeking new employees, but also consider asking a former coworker or even previous employers. Often, they can give you a lead on a job that’s open. To start networking, it is suggested that you expand your search horizons. It is imperative that you commit to allow time for an in-depth search, despite your busy schedule, since the results will be rewarding.

The last thing to make sure you do during your search for employment is to research your field of profession thoroughly and take an in-depth look at companies you apply to. You may find that the industry you want to work in is saturated in your region, which will tell you to find a different spin on what you can do and expand your horizons, or you may find that an attractive company really isn’t that pretty, once you find out their history. To be successful in your search for employment, be persistent and knowledgeable, always on the lookout for information that will help you land that perfect job.

Times are definitely tough economically and many of us have either lost our jobs or are in danger of losing them. Looking for new jobs can be a challenge. Local newspapers seem to have smaller and smaller ‘help wanted’ sections and rarely carry listings for opportunities that are beyond your local area. The solution could be job search engines.

Job search websites are massive databases of available job listings which can be searched through by job seekers like you. The jobs can be searched in a wide variety of ways, including by location, job title, company name, experience required, field or industry, and more. You can even combine criteria to help you pin down your search more specifically.

Going for job interview and do not know how to prepare! Well, here are some points which you must consider while going for the job interview. Giving an interview is not any straightforward task. Remember that an interview is not any common conversation, but is an examination to assess you. If you are not prepares then you may not give a good first impression and you will have lost out. You must do good, planned preparation for the interview.

Before going for a job interview, assemble all the information about the employing company. Visit web sites and draw out necessary information about the company. Write down the standard type of questions you will be asked by the interviewer and use them to prepare for your answers. Base answers on facts and around your qualifications. Because the entire result from the interview is dependent on how you answer the questions and how smartly you justify yourself.

Don’t take a passive role in your job search. You can’t just sit by the phone. You need to work harder to find the right job for yourself. You might even want to console yourself with the fact that searching for a job is the hardest job you’ll ever have. The reason why is simple – when it’s done right it’s full of rejection.

Too many job seekers will simply search Monster® and the other assorted job sites, post a resume to a few opportunities listed, and then sit back and wait. This is the passive no-win approach to job searching that will never get you the results you are looking for. Don’t let yourself fall into this role.

Finding a suitable job that matches your skills requires a methodical approach that first defines exactly what skills you possess. Whether you are good with people, skilled in computer programming or have a good command of the English language can all be considerations to mull over before you even start your job search.

Qualifications are also a primary concern. Depending what level of education you possess will also be a factor in what job roles you will be suitable for. Generally most industries will have jobs for differing levels education; although a common misconception is that if you possess a degree you are guaranteed a job that will be well paid and hold a great deal of responsibility. Often it may be the case when involved in a search to apply for jobs below your education level in order to stand a better chance of success.

The aerospace engineering field is highly competitive due to a number of factors. From the perspective of hiring aerospace firms, there is a need to hire only the best and brightest engineering professionals. The competition for every corporate and government contract by a firm means that they need top notch staff at every level. In the perspective of a graduate professional or experienced engineer, the job market is increasingly flooded by new university graduates and international applicants vying for the same positions. This high level of competition means that an engineering aspirant needs to conduct a thorough and sound job search.

Graduates and experienced aerospace engineers alike need to use a multi-tiered review system during their job search. No one resource is sufficient to make for a thorough job search as different resources offer various strengths and weaknesses. A sound job search starts with the realisation that there is no silver bullet for finding the dream aerospace engineering job.

Most online job seekers do not use the employment newsgroups. Most job seekers concentrate their efforts on the large commercial job sites and the employment newsgroups require some time and effort to investigate and use efficiently. Use the JobMetaSeek Newsgroup Directory to determine if any of the employment groups could be useful in your job search. Look for employment newsgroups serving your industry, occupation or locations of interest.

If you decide to incorporate one or more of the newsgroups into your job search, you will want to use a program specifically designed for newsgroups. Web site interfaces, such as Google or the newsgroup function in Outlook Express are not the best methods to access this material. One of the best Newsreader available is Agent. It is available free of charge or can be upgraded for a small fee. The program comes with complete installation instructions and it includes excellent filtering tools. Once you configure the software, the process of retrieving and reading the messages of interest is more or less automatic.

The typical job seeker will usually decide that they have to find the jobs that are available- – the ones listed on on job boards, in the newspaper, etc. This is a comfortable path to follow; it’s one that we have tried over and over again. It has probably led us to the current position we occupy, or to the previous ones that were held.

If you’re searching for a position, or considering the possibility, wouldn’t you be interested in following a shorter path that will help you uncover the jobs that are available, and the ones that have yet to posted? Of course you would. If we can find ways to make the job search successful – - and shorter – - then all of us would be willing to follow a different path.

In this article, I will provide 3 important steps to follow to help you succeed within your job search, and help to make it a shorter process.

Step 1: Target the company
Make a decision which company aligns with your career interests, path, advancement, goals. Create a list that includes 5 or more companies that you believe match with your goals and background. How do you find these companies? Some may be drawn from your familiarity of the types of businesses and industries in your area (whether local or regional depending on your relocation desires). Some may be currently seeking resumes and have posted available positions. Do the necessary research to review your targeted companies’ background, objectives, position needs.

Step 2: Identify the business need
Using your list of targeted companies, use your research skills to identify the current and prevailing business need. For example, after researching a specific organization, I uncovered that the company had an extensive growth plan to be implemented over the course of five years. Through this company’s website, I was able to uncover a pdf. file that tracked the anticipated staffing needs to ensure the company reached it’s growth goals across the country. From this type of data, you can make general assumptions regarding how someone with your qualifications may fit in with a targeted company’s mission or goals. Through use of the internet, track down company press releases, events, financial information to get as much information as possible.

Step 2: Market yourself BEFORE sending your resume
How do you get into your targeted companies? In cases where the position you’re seeking has been advertised, you may be required to go through a screening-out process with the HR department. In this case, before you send your resume, contact the HR Manager, introduce yourself and your qualifications, and ask if it’s possible to review the company hiring process with you. Ask if the position is still available for interviews. Ask for an email address to send your resume (especially if they requested online applications in the job posting). Additionally, be sure to courteously speak with any administrative staff who handle or forward your calls – - introduce yourself, explain your interest in submitting your resume. Develop the relationship and increase your name recognition prior to submitting your resume. Even if there has not been an advertised position, you can follow the above steps.

These are three key steps which can provide much needed help to get you in front of the right person at your targeted company.
